Building Bridges: Connections for Resilience, Recovery, and Renewal LIMITED
Monday August 4, 2025 11:00am - 12:00pm PDT
Research has found that many students experience at least one traumatizing experience as a child or adolescent. These traumas will impact them emotionally, behaviorally, and academically. Often, students will behave in externalizing behaviors that appear to be maladaptive in nature. Educators are in a position to recognize trauma in students and support them within a classroom.
Attendees of this training will learn what trauma is, where it can stem from, and how trauma can show up in the classroom. Attendees will learn about the effects of trauma and how to implement strategies in the classroom to build connections and resiliency in children of trauma. Vicarious trauma will also be discussed as well as ways educators can take care of their own needs while supporting the needs of their students.
